One of the things that children exceptionally enjoy is taking a bath. In the absence of a pool, or the presence of the rain, it is the perfect excuse to play in the tub and immerse themselves in bubbles. Gummy’s fun bath time however does not end in the bathroom. It continues in the bedroom, finished off with massage either using lotion or baby oil.

I particularly love giving Gummy a bath after a long day. Preferably after dinner to give her enough time to digest and before Bible reading and milk time. I don’t like rushing bath time also that’s why I prefer it at night rather than very early in the morning before heading to school.

bathtime

Children are very kinetic. They literally want to feel love to know that they are loved. And massage is one of the best ways to tangibly express that to them. The skin to skin contact and smooth and slow motions calm their senses and ease them into quiet talk or magic moment before finally dozing off. Not to mention the many other biological benefits of massage such as better blood circulation and relaxation of muscles.

footmassage

My daughter undeniably loves being pampered. She loves foot massage as much as I do. And I love serving her. I love rubbing her feet. What great joy it brings me when I do something for her; making her feel loved with my touch and by taking time doing things with and for her.

lotion

The perfect, safest and tried and tested line of skincare for babies (and adults – since I share the same lotion and oil as Gummy), that has been passed on for generations in our family is none other than Johnson’s Baby. I vividly remember my Lola slathering lotion from a baby pink plastic bottle when I was young. She would emphasize doubling the amount and increasing the circling motions on the joint areas – knees and elbows. And even now that I have my own baby – my Lola’s great grandchild, she never fails to remind me to scrub Gummy’s skin with oil and cotton before the actual bath to get rid of dead skin cells.

This complete line of Johnson’s Baby Bedtime includes baby bath, lotion, powder and oil and has been proven to help babies sleep up to an hour longer! That means an hour more for us too, Mummies! The key of course to successfully soothing our babies before bed is unrushed warm bath, gentle massage and quiet time. As for Gummy and I, we enjoy reading Bible stories or daily devotionals, and discussing the stories while drinking our milk.

  1. My 3-year-old child absolutely adores bathtime! She has her array of water toys in the bathing area, ready for her to choose and play with. We also have a big basin ready for days when she just wants to soak in the water. I let her for as long as she wants because she finds pure bliss in the water and is able to let her imagination run free. She is a true-blue waterbaby as we’ve been bringing to seaside places since she was a few weeks old!
Allowing her to enjoy what she loves makes her feel loved and fills my love tank as well, as I see her happy and giddy with excitement. Our bedtime routine right after bathtime is similar to bathtime as well, in that I let her choose what she wants to do as part of our going-to-bed routine. She chooses books to read, music to listen to, and then slowly winds down until we’re hugging each other sleep. 🙂

I just want to share my mama and baby time. Our best time will always be bedtime katabi ko siyang natutulog ayaw nyang nag papahele sa papa nya ako lang talaga.. He will hold my finger tapos ung isang kamay nya himas himas ang tagiliran ko habang nag huhum ako sa knya ng kanta siya rin nakikiungol, ganun siya hanggang sa makatulog.. Thank you

  3. Just like Gummy my 3 year old baby love being pampered, I aggree this Johnson and Johnson’s product is perfect to help every mummies to give extra care and feel comfortable to our babies. One of my baby’s favorite is Johnson’s baby bath she love the smell and when I grab it to her body the skin become so smooth. From her month old until now before she sleep I massage her whole body using Johnson and Johnson’s oil and lotion, this is also a time to make her feel so precious and being pampered. I know just like my mother use this to me when I am young and now I have a baby I’m still use it.

  4. Hello Mummy Bettina and baby Gummy, my turning 4 yr old baby boy this oct 2 is love bathtime playtime, Sabi niya mommy ako nalang maliligo mag isa kasi bigboy naman na ako e! gumagawa sya ng bubbles kaya yung tub niya punong puno ng bubbles at yung nakakashock inuubos niya ung isang johnson sa tub, which is share sila ng baby sister niya dun sa babybath na yun 🙂 pero atleast I let him enjoy every moment ng pagiging bata. After bathtime hihingi na sya ng meme! (sorry nag bobottle feed parin sya) kahit sinabi niya na bigboy na sya :D. Kukunin na niya ang tablet manunuod na sya ng mga favorite movies at mga songs na pang kids habang nilalagyan ko ng baby oil ung talampakan niya and likod niya kasi yun tlaga nakasanayan nmin, Yun ndin gngawa samin ng mommy ko while mga kids palang kami. ang my son loves it so much parang narerelaks sya sa maghapon na paglalaro niya! 🙂

  5. I remember when i was a kid my lola used to put oil in my legs para daw maging smooth and makinis…true enough when i was growing up they say its so makinis daw…but to this day as i grow bigger i used to bike and do boys atuff…and becaised of that…i got peklat!!!! Huhuhu….anyway its still makinis….thnks to johnson baby oil…the baby oil for kids and adult

  6. My 5 yrs old son loves to pamper himself on the bathroom every night before he goes to sleeps ( it takes 1 hr for him to take a bath with scrub) and he always wants me to massage his back since nakatapat kame sa aircon so that all of the colds in his back will melt by massaging him. Since I give birth to him, I used j&j baby bath time (the blue one) dahil napaka sensitive ng skin nya and I trust the brand because my mother used it also. I love how my son pampered and he sleeps very well and it smells good also. Especially the baby oil. I remember last night when my sister wants to borrow the baby oil because she has stomach ache and my son hid it anywhere that we don’t know. Hahaha! I trust and owe everything to Johnson & Johnson baby products on my son’s sensitive skin. ❤

  7. I have the same experienced with your Lola. Since I grew up with my grandparents, I can still remember how excited I am everytime I’ll take a bath. And that routine has been passed through generations – and now that I am already a mom to a 4yr old Cutie Earthling, I followed every tips and adviced. An hour before bath time, I’ll put Johnsons’s Baby oil on his body especially on his back, this will help his body against coldness. And during his bath time, I used Johnson’s Baby Bath with Milk and Rice which is clinically proven that is best for sensitive skin. And it doesn’t end there, after taking a bath, I’ll ASK him to lie down so I can gently give him a Massage while Applying Johnson’s Baby Lotion Milk and Rice. For others this is very simple, but for me this is a priceless Moment. A bond that will lasts a lifetime.. Making my son feel that he is well loved by me.. Every touch of my skin to his really soothes my heart.

  8. Hi Mommy Bettina, I am a first time mom to my 4 month old baby girl. I remember the first time I gave her a bath I was so scared and she always cry but now she loves to bath! I turn our morning bathtime into playtime by talking and singing to her bible songs. I love her reaction when she coo and smile at me. At bedtime before I put her to sleep I put lotion to soothe and warm her then I read bed time stories while I breastfeed her. My heart is so full

  10. :: Eversince she was a baby, my now 20-month old’s favourite part of the day is her bath time. As a first time mother, this is also my favourite time as I love seeing her enjoying playing with water, tickling her every once in a while. While doing it, I try to incorporate educating her by teaching the different parts of her body, singing nursery rhymes and telling her how our day went by.

It also stimulates her mind to think creatively as I give her the freedom to play with the bubbles created by Johnsons Baby Bath. To make sure that her skin doesn’t get too dry, I also lather Johnsons Baby Oil after that. The cuddles and giggles that happen just makes our night more relaxed and makes her body rejuvenated. This is the kind of memories that I want to create with her – the kind that is full of love and laughter.

This has been our routine before bedtime and I hope to continue it as she grows up, until she can finally take a bath on her own. Undoubtedly, using Johnsons products will remain to be passed on to generations to come.

  11. Hi Mommies! Having kids is such a wonderful experience. For a new Mom like me It is a big challenge but also a opportunity to grow and a chance to share common values that have been into my family through years.
I can say that I am one lucky mom that Bath time is one of my little bugoys favorite activity. He enjoy it so much and ofcourse I also make sure that It will be a grand affair that he will always look forward too! 🙂
I start of by preparing everything we need.
Prepared the Bathtime Essentials! Yey!Happy to have discovered this Johnson’s Milk + Oast . I Absolutely fell in love with this when I put it on my baby during bath time he is so relaxed and seems enjoying because he was smiling at me all the time. Before bed time I also make sure to give him a soft massage to make him relax and feel love through my softest touch using Johnsons baby lotion. Us me mommies should not skip this kind of bonding it will really make our little one Happy just like Gummy! (Would love to meet you, Mommy bettina and Gummy! You really inspire me to still be a hand on mom despite of my busy schedule!)
    One more reminder mommies:
Safety is one of the main factors that switch to “on” continuously on your brain isn’t it? Therefore, for us Moms, who are still wondering if you are making a good job, there is nothing to worry about, love will always tell you what to do! God bless everyone. – Mommy Ehm

  12. Hi Mummy Bites! My 2yr old daughter really likes bath time. Whenever I’ll say “ligo time”, she will run from me and shout “habol muna!” until she reach the bathroom. I will let her play first with the tabo and toys like she’s in a restaurant asking me my orders and pretending she’s cooking on the water basin. Haha! Then when I’m about to start giving her a bath I will use the tabo and make rain that she really loves. Been using Johnson’s products, it gives her smooth skin after bath. Then she’ll apply Johnson’s milk lotion on herself ( I always let her kasi sabay kami naglolotion, Hehehe ) because it’s so mabango! And before sleeping she always asks for the bedtime book and look at the pictures again and again until she fell asleep while I’m breastfeeding her! 🙂

  13. Hi Mummy & Gummy Bites! I’m a first-time mom too and walang ibang product na binigay ko trust ko lalo na sa bathtime and postbathtime ni baby kundi Johnson’s. Now my son is a year and a half years old. From the first day na pwede ko na cya paliguan, I only used top-to-toe until now kase takot ako malagyan ng soap ung mata nya hihi Then I massage and tickle his whole body with the bedtime lotion. Even nappy changes, I always put lotion on his singit haha! Then Johnson’s powder sa likod and leeg nya. Kahit ung other family members namin, kulang nalang langhapin nila si baby after ko bihisan kase sobra bango. One time her teen tita said “mag Johnson’s nalang din kaya ako baka sakali whole day ganyan ako kabango” So thank you Johnson’s & Johnson’s mas nadadagdagan ang mommy-baby time namin mag ina and for your products na ndi pinapahirapan ang first time moms tulad ko. God bless Mummy and Gummy.

  15. Hi Ms. Bettinna,
Me and my 2 year old daughter enjoy bath time in the morning specially when its my rest day. I’m giving her a tub with water and let her swim and play. Everynight after work we eat together and after we watch television usually serye, we take a bath together coz she usually loves taking a bath with me. We play together, I let her experience to rub herself and play with the water after I give her a proper bathing. When were done, we play together with her toys and we listening to radio, laughing together and at the end of the day we pray together and cuddle with each other. I love my daughter so much and I love doing small things with her.

  16. :: Eversince she was a baby, my now 20-month old’s favourite part of the day is her bath time. 18. Eversince I came into your IG page, I instantly became a fan of yours and you became my life’s peg because we share alot of similarities like we had single parenthood by CHOICE and made an intimate relationship with our Lord (Lord first more than anyone/anything else.) after experiencing the biggest trials in our life. Like you, I also just had discovered a new relationship and choose to know HIM better everyday after the Lord tested me with the biggest trial in life which is unplanned but not unwanted pregnancy. I embraced motherhood by myself but with the help of my parents of course. It truly takes a village to raise up a child. It is only seen on papers that I am a single parent but raising up my 3 year old daughter was not carried by myself alone, I had my parents and relatives with me who helps me in everyday living. I am also a member of SAHMs’ now since I gave up working as a nurse to be a fully pledge mother to my toddler.

Because I have all the time of the day to spend it with my little one, surely we are very close to each other. I know my daughter really well because of the quality time we spend everyday. My daughter loves water too. even so much that she does not like to be dried up fast when bathing, still wants to play with the running water and make some bubbles with the use of her Johnsons baby bath wash (since day one of her life, Johnsons baby products has been the only product that touches her skin). During bath time, she also carries a toy or two that she would bring along to let it swim on her little basin and bathes the toys too with her Johnson baby bath wash just like her. After drying up and before putting up her bedtime clothes, I always smoothly rub and massage her body with Johnson baby lotion including her face. Btw, I also prefer just like you to give her a bath at night because it makes me sure that she is clean when in bed and it her makes her sleep soundly, smoothly and longer sleeps takes place. I totally agree on that matter. And at night, we could just spend a little longer on bath and have some playtime than in the morning wherein we have to do bath so fast so she would not be late at school. After we are done with putting her clothes and before closing our eyes, we pray and we share things or events that had transpired at that day ( school stuffs usually). Just before closing our eyes, she would normally (like every sleep time) hold my hand (maybe, to let her feel she is secured that I would not leave her side) and slowly she would close her eyes and take her to dreamland. With the help also of Johnson baby products, I know that she would sleep soundly without feeling any dirty or dry at all. Bathing like at night makes her feel her body cool and clean. That’s my secret tactic by the way on putting my daughter sleep easily and longer. So I could I have more me time also. ❤

  19. I agree a lot with your thoughts Mummy! As a working mom, I really treasure nightly bath time and bed time with my 2 year old daughter. Everyday after dinner (after washing the dishes) I lead her to the bathroom. At 2yo, she is sort of independent! She wants to hold her toothbrush as I put the toothpaste on it. I can see the delight in her eyes every time she see the paste coming out of the tube. I usually rub a little oil on her, para Hindi siya pasukin ng lamig! My MIL gave me that advise. And when it comes to bath time, she wants me to pour the bath soap on her palms, she’ll wash her hair as I wash her body.. We usually sing ‘if your happy and you know it, wash your hair… If your happy and you know it, wash your face… And we mention every part of her body that has to be cleaned! After bath, I lay her to bed to change her diapers. She then put baby powder on her face as I put powder on her body. Then I will pour on lotion to her hand, she’s the one to rub it on her arms, elbows, knees, legs and feet while singing ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes!’ Most of our activities have soundtrack! Hehe I know when she’s sleepy, because she’ll ask me to massage and/or scratch her back. This is my favorite part, because I get to caress her small and soft back, sing to her church and Christmas songs as she fall asleep. No matter how tired or sleepy I am, I will never stop doing these things for my child.

  20. Hi! Thankyou mummybites na share namen ung feeling and experience namen with Johnson’s. God Bless sa inyo ni gummy…missyou both..

  21. I agree with your thoughts Mummy Bettina. As a working mom, I really treasure nightly bath time and bed time with my daughter. Olivia is 2yrs. Old and sort of independent at a young age. Everyday after dinner (after washing the dishes), I lead her to the bathroom. Before taking the shower, I first rub her chest and back with johnson’s baby oil para daw Hindi pasukin ng lamig.. As advised by my MIL. Olivia wants to do things on her own, so I would pour the bath soap on her palms and she will wash her hair as I wash her body. We always sing ‘if you’re happy and you know it, wash your hair.. If your happy and you know it, wash your face..’ And we mention all the body part that needs to be cleaned. After bathing, I dry her with her own towel and lay her to bed. I will then put baby powder on her body while she puts some powder on her cheeks. Every night, she remembers to put on lotion on her elbows, arms, legs, knees and feet. We sing, ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’ as we rub the lotion on her skin. Oh yes, we enjoy singing. Most of our activities have a soundtrack. He he. I would know when she’s sleepy because she’ll ask me to massage / scratch her back. This is actually my favorite part because I get to caress her small and soft back. No matter how tired and sleepy I am, I don’t stop doing this until my child falls asleep. I will kiss her on the forehead. Then my day is complete! 🙂

  22. Hello, Bettina! It’s my first time to visit your blog and I’m already enjoying it. I’m a mom of two boys, my eldest turning 4 next month and a 4 month-old baby. As for my eldest, he really loves taking a bath because it’s also playtime for him. What he has right now in the bathroom is a water gun that he really loves playing with while he’s soaking in a tub, sometimes I or his dad can’t help but join him, basa na rin whoever is bathing him, so it also becomes a bonding time. 🙂 That’s OK because by then the scent of the shampoo and soap linger longer on his body and takes away any “amoy-pawis” due to his busy toddler activities during the day.
At night time naman, before we go to sleep, as a family we say our prayers together, then after, I tell him a story, while rubbing baby powder onto his back. It doesn’t have to be a fairy tale or the ones from a book. Sometimes, its about my childhood or I create a story of my own, impromptu. What’s good to know is that he listens intently and he even asks what happens next. These are enjoyable moments, indeed. 🙂

  23. Hi Mommy Bettina, i’ve been a huge fan of yours here in IG and in real life i always admire how you make time with your daughter. For me, my 2yr old son loves to take a bath every single day bec it is where he can play, snuggle with his toys, improve his swimming skills (kahit sa batya lang hahaha). I used Johnsons baby oil b4 taking him for a bath so he will not be suddened by the coldness of the water and Johnsons Bath with Milk + Rice for good skin. My day is complete if I see him smiling and making papogi after having dressed up. Godbless you more!

  24. Wow!!! this blog post is just so timely..:-) Last night, after giving my almost 2 year old daughter her night bath , I was so surprised because while I was toweling her off, she was just shouting “Jo-shon, Jo-shon!” I didnt get it at first but just realized that she was referring to her Johnson’s baby lotion. I didnt even seriously teach her that word, but I was so happy that she was able to say a new word adding to her growing vocabulary list. 🙂
Anyway, just like you Mummy Bite, bath time with my baby, is one of the bonding moments that I always cherish. Ever since I learned to bathe her, I have always been grateful and relieved that she loves water. Sometimes,I have this struggle to bathe her at night when we visit my mother-in-law’s house once in a while, ( bawal daw kasi paliguan ang bata sa gabi), pero na su-survive pa rin namin. Naliligo talaga siya.:-)
We call bath time, “babath” time.. Whenever she sees the bathroom, especially these days, she always says, “bath, bath” and points to her mini swimming pool. Until now we use J&J top to toe wash. She has been using that since she was a little baby. She likes me to make bubbles out of that. That’s why she enjoys taking a bath more these days because of our blowing bubbles activity. Sometimes we find it hard to make her finish bathing. Ang ending, crying time 🙁 Buti nalang may Johnson’s baby lotion. It helps create another fun activity for her. After bathing ( and crying for a while) she then enjoys putting lotion on parts of her body, and getting to know them as well. Whew! What would i do without Johnson and Johnson’s!
Honestly, I got excited to go to the grocery when I saw your post a few days ago. I want to try J&J bedtime products to my baby too. She has very sensitive skin, and for now the only products that I have tried is the top-to-toe wash and the milk lotion. I havent tried putting baby oil before bathing also. I do that after bath, before the lotion.. Masubukan nga..:-)
Now that she is turning 2 years old this coming September 21, I promise to take care of my baby’s skin more, as I continue to take care of mine too. I’d like her to see me take care of my skin as she grows up just like I have seen my mom take care of her skin too.
With our Johnson and Johnson’s daily and nightly routines, we don’t only teach our children how to take care of themselves, but pass on the feeling of security, comfort, genuine care and love that would last from generation to generation.

    Happy Weekend Mummy and Gummy!

  25. hi there mummy Bettina! I’m a first-time stay-at-home mom to a three-year old angel.. ever since she was born, I’ve been using j&j products to cleanse her skin. As expected, she favors bath time after having lunch! I am still putting j&j baby oil on her back (just to avoid colds). I also use it to remove her dead skin. I pour j&j toddler shampoo & milk + rice bath unto her little hands. Though we only use pale & dipper, we still come up with a bubble bath! As I rub and cleanse her, she’s always making ‘kuwento’ about the episode of Sofia the First she just watched. More than bath time, it is indeed a bonding time for us! Night time is for bedtime bath. I use the calming wash unto her face, legs and arms. And when I put her pajamas on, I’ll get her fave book and read a Sofia story again. And finally before I send her to sleep, she’ll shout ‘massage’. Of course, her wish is my command. I massage her back while she lays on her tummy. Next is her feet and toenails. Lastly, for her forehead I use the oil.
Just in time, I’ll be replenishing my j&j stocks this coming week so I would be very glad to if you can share some of yours.. Hahaha! Thank you for sharing your stories here & in IG. I’m an avid follower, and you are such an inspiration!

  27. Greetings, Ms.Bettinna! I wanna share my Ate-baby cousin moments (yes, not mom and daughter lol). When she was about 2 months, I always make sure that she’s always moisturized and smells good by using the Johnson’s milk baby bath and lotion. She’s definitely a Johnson’s baby since she was born and so am I! I still use the baby shampoo (wheat germ), baby powder and lotion. I love Johnson’s ever since!

  28. Hi! Mummy Bettinna,
How I would love to write stuffs about life experiences and moments like you do but most of the time can’t squeeze into my schedule since I am a mom of 2 and a house maker at the same time but since I had this chance really in the morning and got to finish it hopefully I would wanna share. Ever since I became a follower of your IG and Kusina Master I instantly got hooked with you not to mention now that I also have a 3 month chubby cheek baby girl like Gummy. Bath Time is truly one of the kids most enjoyed moments as for my eldest who is now a kuya, ever since he was little grew up loving the water whether it be on the tub on our house since we don’t have a pool or even on the inflatable. I remember we bought him one when he was just about a year old and we usually take our bath on the roof top of my in-laws and we would play with his robots, balls and cars. Our bedtime routine was somewhat same as yours because we also take a bath at night to be really fresh just before going to bed after his school task. Until now that he is a bit older he never outgrew the love of playing and enjoying bath time because he still brings toys and immerse himself sometimes in the big pail that we have in the washroom, which by the way was our third already since he broke the 2 because of is weight. After that when in bed I usually put oil on his back, feet and arms and gently massage him to soothe his tired muscles and relax them for him to have a sound sleep. Now that our little one is already 3 month she can hold her head with assistance so I also let her enjoy our bonding bathing time everyday with our mini batya after which I massage her with Johnson’s lotion on her arms and legs and I put some oil on her sole and back and massage her which she loves so much that literally put her to sleep after drinking milk from me since she is exclusively breastfeed I also put Johnson’s baby powder on their neck and armpit since my hubby loves smelling our little bundle of joy. Me and my siblings grew up with Johnson’s baby products since we were kids. I couldn’t forget my moms passion and love in taking care of us. It reminded me of the pink bottle which she usually buy in big bottle plus the pink baby oil and of course the big powder since we are 4 to share, and during those time a bar soap which I love the scent. Ever since I became a mom Johnson’s baby product was top on my list. even before my two children came out, I have prepared those on my baby bag even before I gave birth to them. Now we have a variety to choose like for soap I usually buy the liquid soap no more tears which my son truly enjoys and plays bubble bath on the tub, the calming oil which I love the scent so much also helps me clean their outer ear and the lotion which are gentle on skin and not sticky are some of the best products that I truly love not just for my children but for me as well. It is a must for me as well because it makes my skin so babylike:)
